The People Powering Universal Fibers' Innovation Journey

In this chapter of "Our Story" the celebration of the individuals who breathe life into our company's vision, culture, and commitment to excellence continues.

Our latest conversation is with Anna Plumb, VP of Sales and Marketing in Europe

1.    As VP of Sales and Marketing in Europe, what has been the most important development in your region?

There have been several pivotal developments which have shaped our regional strategy. The most significant milestone was opening our manufacturing facility in Poland.

Establishing an expert team and installing the latest production technology in Europe has been instrumental in expanding our reach and solidifying our position in the market. Our customer-centric approach, with strategically positioned manufacturing facilities around the world means we are a true global supply partner. This underpins our commitment to service excellence and quality, as we listen to our customers and actively address market needs with agility.

Our commitment to sustainability is evident through the introduction of Thrive® matter, the most sustainable nylon fibre in the world. Additionally, we've introduced new, design-led products, demonstrating our dedication to staying at the forefront of industry trends. These developments underscore our adaptability, excellence, and sustainability in a dynamic European market.

2.    What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is meeting with customers, listening to their needs and adding value. This partnership approach not only fosters a deeper understanding of market dynamics but also establishes a foundation for building strong, lasting relationships.

Contributing to our customers' success through product innovation and seeing that we have made a positive difference to grow their businesses is immensely fulfilling. And best of all, knowing I have the support of an expert team at Universal Fibers behind me every step of the way, working together to ensure success for both our customers and our company.

3.    What are the most interesting trends you are seeing in workplace design?

One notable trend is the evolution of office spaces to accommodate the demand for hybrid working. This has resulted in the creation of more multi-use areas and hubs, with a softer more domestic feel. There is also a greater emphasis on wellbeing and biophilic design and an increased consciousness in creating sustainable design.

Carpets play a key role by creating sustainable comfortable spaces, enhancing ambiance, and significantly reducing noise impact. This shift reflects an exciting time for office design, focusing on promoting health and well-being, where carpets prove to be a perfect application in fostering adaptable and comfortable work environments.

4.    What does being part of the Universal Fibers family mean to you and your customers?

Being part of the Universal Fibers family is a commitment to customer partnership, growth, and success. As a world-class global manufacturer of innovative and sustainable yarn solutions, Universal Fibers ensures excellent service, quality, and timely delivery. For our customers, it means a reliable partnership marked by innovation, environmental responsibility, and shared success.

As VP of Sales and Marketing in Europe, it makes my job easier knowing I’m part of a team that is continually striving for excellence, and that it’s a collaborative journey that we share with our customers.

5.    You travel extensively, what do you do to relax?

I love to spend time with my family and friends and travelling on holiday. Music is a real passion; I sing in a choir, so I get the chance to sing in some magnificent cathedrals. I will be in Venice in May singing and performing in a concert. I also attend concerts regularly, most recently at the Royal Albert Hall in London to celebrate the 80th Birthday of the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins where he conducted a selection of his own music, it was fantastic. Eric Clapton is next in May.
